Aromatherapy Massage: How to Choose Your Essential Oil

Aroma therapy is our quietest, most soothing massage. It uses gentle, flowing strokes — similar to a Swedish massage — with a blend of essential oils chosen for how you want to feel.
How aromatherapy massage works
Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts. In a massage, a few drops are blended into a carrier oil so they're safe for the skin. You experience them in two ways: through the scent, which can be very calming, and through the massage itself.
The pressure is usually light to medium. The aim isn't to dig into knots — it's to help your body and mind slow down.
Popular oils and the mood they suit
- Lavender — the classic for calm and sleep.
- Eucalyptus — fresh and clearing; popular in Delhi winters and when you feel blocked up.
- Orange or lemon — bright and uplifting, good on low-energy days.
- Peppermint — cooling and refreshing; used sparingly.
- Rose — soft and comforting.
- Sandalwood — warm and grounding, a favourite in Indian wellness traditions.
Our team will tell you which oils are available on the day and help you pick. Smell a couple before you decide — your nose usually knows.

Safety first
Essential oils are natural, but they're also strong. Please tell us if you:
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding — some oils aren't recommended.
- Have allergies or sensitive skin, including to nuts (some carrier oils are nut-based).
- Have asthma or are sensitive to strong smells.
- Have epilepsy or high blood pressure — a few oils are best avoided.
We can use a mild blend, or switch to an unscented oil.
Getting the most from it
- Arrive a few minutes early and breathe slowly while you settle in.
- Keep your phone in the locker — this is a digital detox hour.
- Don't shower immediately afterwards if you can avoid it; let the oil soak in for a little while.
- Have water and a quiet evening.
Aroma therapy is available at all Angkasa outlets in GK-1, Sector 29 and Golf Course Road.
